-manent Staff until more than 2 years later, and that Mr.

Grey was then placed on his maximum salary thus apparently

becoming Mr. Darby's senior. In these circumstances I

agreed that Mr. Darby should draw his maximum rate of

salary, viz.:- £420 per annum with effect from the 1st.

instant and I have now the honour to request Your Lord-

-ship's sanction for payment to be made to him according-

-ly.
